The comment section has long been one of the most essential part of social media. Thanks to it, people have more chances to express their feelings, show their affection and give their opinions, which are much harder to do in face-to-face interactions. However, despite its first intention is to help people interact with each other, comment sometimes brings about counter-effects, making some commenters being blacklisted by their friends. However, to avoid one day you visit your friend’s profile and realize that you two are no longer friends, don’t fall into any kind of irritating comments described below.

1. Please like my page

Just imagine, one day, you have just posted your most beautiful photo on Facebook after capturing again and again a bunch of times. Your Facebook notification informs that you have received your first comment for your picture. However, when you click into it, there is just a come-out-from-nowhere guy comments that he has opened a page and please like his page by the link provided. What will you do? Yes, I know you will “kill him before he lays eggs”.

2. Send this message to X (number) people …

This type of comment has the same format, always starting with “Send this to X (number) people…”. Sometimes, it might be horror such as: “Hello, I am Cordelia. I died in a fire 10 years ago. Unless you send this to 10 people, I will come to your room tonight and stare at you.” Sometimes, it might be brighter but still nonsense such as: “Tomorrow is the best day of your life, your crush is going to kiss you if you send this to 10 people.” Whoever you send these comments to, I’m sure that their hands are clicking into to report button.

3. First comment

First comment, as its name, is the first person that comment under a specific post or status. People have thousands of reasons to comment on a post. However, just comment because you want to be the first comment is very annoying and it shows your online friends that you are a neet having nothing to do except wait for everyone to post status and become the first comment. Hence, remember not to comment any sentence similar to this: “First comment. Yay”.

4. Meme

Most of people prefer meme comment. In a recent research, 82.4% of participants admitted that they used meme comment to express their feelings or opinions in a funny way. Furthermore, most favourite memes of Internet users are meme with very dark or sarcastic humour such as Bad Luck Brian (figure 1). However, in some cases, meme comment betrays its basic characteristic, funny, to become something impolite to comment readers. For example, you are having a bad day. You go home, turn on your computer and write down some negative feelings about it and post to your facebook wall. You immediately receive a meme comment saying that: “Who fucking cares?”. How do you feel? If you feel sad, don’t do it with your friends. They don’t see it funny at all.

5. Spoil

Some social media users have a weird hobby. They go to the cinema, watch a blockbuster that everyone intends to watch. Then, they go home, write a status, report every small detail of the movie, making their friends don’t want to watch it anymore just because they have known about it enough, from the very beginning till the end. Do you think that you have done a great job in preventing people spend their money? No. Absolutely No. They will silently unfollow you from now on. So. Think twice before you write review about a movie.

We have gone through 5 types of annoying commenter. Now, let’s watch a video to find out more what will happen if your comment is in real life.
